Emily Mullenax, MSW, LCSW

Originally from Texas, I bounced around a bit before landing in Utah. I got my Masters in Social Work (MSW) from New York University, and I’ve been practicing in Utah since 2017.

My background is in International Relations & Global Studies. I researched cultural conflicts and discriminatory policies before becoming a therapist. This experience helps me to understand the larger complex systems that impact my clients and that can help or hinder their healing.

I specialize in trauma-informed therapy, and I’m somewhat of a nerd when it comes to understanding how trauma impacts the brain and which interventions are most effective. It’s important to me to continuously hone my skills, so that I can offer precise care.

What inspires me most when working with survivors of trauma is their resiliency. Early in my career, I served asylum-seekers and survivors of torture. I’m so grateful to have worked with these clients because they demonstrated their strength, ingenuity, and compassion every day. They helped me understand my role in supporting their journey, and I continue to draw from this experience today. I see how powerful my clients are, and I want to help them see and embrace their power as well.
